When Cos released their Autumn/Winter catalogue the first picture of this post was a part of their editorial section to advertise the collection, straight away I was intrigued by the construction of this burgundy coat with folded shoulders and no seams on the sleeves. The color is perfection, the look sleek and minimal and the construction simply brilliant. For a piece from a high street brand although Cos is much more than that it is nevertheless really good. I obviously decided it was a must have piece for my Winter wardrobe and started my search, after a month of regular visits to the shop and multiple phone calls which made me feel I was somewhat a creepy stalker, last Saturday the coat finally arrived and it is everything it promised to be when I first took a glimpse at the image. For those of you who don’t know Cos it is the sister brand of H&M, a much more grown up and sophisticated sister with minimal cuts, great knits and every quality wardrobe basic you may need. They have multiple stores in London offering womanswear, menswear and a children’s line. They have also launched their online store last week, so even if you don’t have a store in your country now you have a very decent selection online. For the price of the products the fabrics are great as well as the finishing of most pieces, the same cannot be said of many brands that are more expensive and don’t deliver as much.

I have been dreaming of these Alexander Wang beauties lately. I actually managed to buy two gorgeous pairs of his shoes during the summer sale. They are essentials in a girls wardrobe. You can literally wear them with anything and depending on the shape some of them are suitable for multiple occasions. I must to a post with pictures of the ones I bought. As most of his shoes they are black and leather. I have a terrible tendency to buy gorgeous shoes and be so scared of ruining them to the point of never wearing them outside. This week I took one of the pairs for a walk and I really hated the feeling of giving them wear, the possibility of scratching them or damaging the heels. Things are made to be worn and if you spend the money you should be able to enjoy them, then why is it so daunting for me to take them out of the box for more that just to stare and marvel at the design and craftmanship ??? I have a pair of Miu Miu’s that I bought about 5 years ago that have not seen daylight yet, the same with countless other pairs, Marni’s from two years ago, the Prada shoes from last season, and the list goes on and on. I like my shoes and clothes to be pristine, most people like their garments after they have worn them for a while, when they have acquired their smell, a slightly different shape, are adapted to their bodies. I on the other hand like everything to look exactly like it did on the day I first purchase them and god forbid I stain them or pull a thread. How obsessive is that?

Melancholia is the new film by director Lars Von Trier that will be hitting the cinemas in London tomorrow. I would love to see this one, not just because of curiosity as Lars Von Triers movies are always quite surprising and unexpected but the actual trailer and poster made me extremely curious. It is not so much due to the storyline but the images and photography look stunning. The plan would be to go to the Barbican centre on a Monday and enjoy their offer of 5 pounds per ticket. I believe that they will be showing the movie for a week or two, not that long at all.

I just realized I have not done a single post in about 4 months, I was aware some time had passed since the last one but I did not expect it to be this long. Since I moved back to London life has been slightly hectic, between working and job hunting there is little time to devote to anything else. Either I am too tired or end up leaving the house. I keep doing the usual daily research and reading all the blogs and magazines just have not been able to post. Adding to the above stated melancholia has pretty much been my current state of mind. If in Lisbon I was not doing money at least I was working in something that made me happy and catered to my creative needs. Here on the other hand I make money, pay my rent and my bills but have not yet managed to find the job I want. With two degrees, four internships and a handful of experience it should be an easier task.

Such nice, simple everyday pieces. Wish they had an online store.
