Wish list for Santa

In books, Personal on November 30, 2009 at 10:41 am

Not yet available but coming during the month of December. Less and More is a huge book, 808 pages about the work of Dieter Rams during his whole career at Braun.

Another graphic design book, like I don’t have enough. This one looks really good actually and it is always good to be updated.

Desire_The shape of things to come. It looks amazing, great product design, cool ideas, I’m sure it will be quite inspiring and usefull.

Power Shop 2, from the makers of Frame the amazing interior and architecture magazine comes a 2 volume book on shop interiors. It is about 100 pounds but worth it.

Beyond Architecture. Explores unconventional approaches to the practice and imaginary spaces. It bursts with creativity.

James Hayon and the amazing body of work the studio has produced over the years, with amazing images, sketches and technical details of the construction of pieces and environments. A fantasy world.

And last on this first least, although I had no particular order, Strike a Pose_Eccentric Architecture.

So if anyone does not know what to give me for Christmas here are a few hints. I would be happy with any of these. Everyone always says how difficult it is to buy me presents when I think it is not difficult at all and when in doubt about something always go for books, robots, dvd’s. I know clothes, shoes and accessories are a risk but with the other options you are in safe territory and they can always be exchanged. For people interested in getting this ones for themselves try the Magma website, or the Gestalten website as all of these are published by them and available on the website. You should also check all the books published by Viction:ary, I posted some of them last week and they are always great. Very good content and a great layout. Surely you won’t be disappointed.

Elephant

In Magazines on November 30, 2009 at 10:12 am

Elephant is a new magazine devoted to arts and visual culture launched by the owner of iconic bookstore and my favorite place (to buy books and magazines) Magma in London. I saw it last week in a bookstore in Lisbon and it caught my attention due to the fact that it stood out amongst magazines like Frame, Wallpaper and Creative Review where the magazine had been placed. When I got home I decided to look for it online and here it is a little glimpse of what to expect from Elephant. I personally think it is interesting graphic wise, don’t know if it is enough to compete with all the other magazines currently available.

Boys in dresses

Archive couture Lacroix shot by photographer Karim Sadly and styled by Robbie Spencer from Dazed for new magazine Candy. The feel of the whole shoot is so elegant and even though we are watching the model in women’s couture there seems to be nothing strange about it. Everything seems to fit perfectly and connect with the model. Very poised, so proper.

Sharp edges

In Fashion Designers, Jewellery on November 28, 2009 at 7:05 pm

Great jewellery and simple but strong and sharp garments by designer Maria Francesca Pepe. I look forward to acquiring one for my little collection. The simplicity and sharpness and the fact that everything is slightly oversized is great. I am currently obsessed with oversized jewellery and great vintage pieces, mainly necklaces and earings. Her pieces cab be bought in Kabiri, both in the shop and online.

Don’t remember where I took the images from but I just love them. The faded colours, the poses, the flowers, the expression, the location, the light.

Photo from Jak&Jil. Now we can all have a Chanel bag and it does not need to be a fake one. In a couple of easy steps you can have a unique version in whatever material you desire. Inês let’s make our own Chanel clutches and start a collection.

On the way

After a lot of thinking and much consideration between getting another pair of heels or these white and back beauties I decided to go for the flats. I do have way to many high heel shoes that I do not wear and I am in much need of more shoes I am able to walk in everyday. I have been living the past couple of weeks in my Underground boots, they are so comfortable and go with absolutely everything, hope these ones will be as versatile.
