When I wake up tomorrow I want to be able to draw like this.

Disasssembly by Todd Mclellan

In Artists on May 9, 2011 at 8:58 am

A series by Canadian photographer Todd Mclellan exploring the pieces that are neglected nowadays and hardly ever used. The photographer dismantled a series of objects from a typewriter no an alarm clock and displayed all the little components neatly on a neutral background. The type of work I always enjoy looking at.

Damien Blottiere for Dazed&Confused

In Artists, Editorial on January 14, 2011 at 9:56 am

It’s amazing how such simple photographs can be transformed into such a great editorial with layering and cutouts. Although this is the style that Damien has been developing I personally think that it is his best work yet. The colour combinations, the way everything was put together seems easy and effortless as if the photo came out exactly like this from the moment it was shot.

Martin Margiela S/S 2011

Are the clothes wearable? That depends on how bold you are, personally I believe they are incredible for editorial purposes, the construction is beautiful and the effect great. They remind me of Erwin Wurm and his works. Could I pull some of this off on the street? Not that sure, certainly some of the pieces can be worn on a daily basis and the other will be adapted from the show into something slightly more casual, nevertheless the concept and the craftsmanship is incredible.

Boca do Lobo

An amazing Portuguese company that offers some of the most exciting designs I’ve ever seen. They describe themselves as emotional designers that explore their practice in a thin line between design and art. Handcrafted and handmade in Portugal the pieces have an enormous attention to detail being a feast for the eyes. The images shown here are objects and pieces from their limited edition collection. There is much more to see if you check their website.

No Lifeguard On Duty

A very nice series by J. Bennett Fitts, I particularly like the pool that has the grass on top.

Hamburger Bhf.

Great museum in Berlin devoted to contemporary art, mostly installation. Had a temporary exhibition on Bruce Nauman at the time. A great one to visit if you don’t have the time or the patience to go to every museum in the city.

The Bauhaus Archive

In Artists, Designers, Personal, Photographers, Product Design on August 19, 2010 at 3:07 pm

This was one of the must places to see in Berlin. The archives of the school I wish I had been able to attend. We did not go to Dessau to see the actual grounds but we went to the archives that are actually quite small. Nevertheless they are great and I felt like I wanted to bring everything that was part of the exhibition with me. I was not able to take any photos inside as we had a German lady with quite rude manners following everyone around shouting harshly no pictures, no pictures. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

100 Abandoned Houses

These are a selection from the 100 photographed by Kevin Bauman. They can be bought on his website along with prints off all his photographic work, in different sizes and quality paper. Take a look at some of his other photographic projects all focusing on the relationship between man and his environment.

The Small Stakes

In Artists, books, Illustration on August 1, 2010 at 10:09 pm

The book is still fresh in the shelves and the work is by Jason Munn that does some of the most simple and clever music posters around. Simple in terms of elements, extremely clever in content. Definitely worth looking at and for music lovers or poster fans a book to keep.
